Google AccountsEarly in 2014, Lewisham subscribed to Google Apps for Education, now known as G Suite for Education. G Suite for Education is free for schools, and can be used with any computer, tablet, or smartphone. Through their school based Google account, students and teachers have access to unlimited 'cloud' storage via Google Drive and productivity tools such as Docs, Slides and Sheets (comparable to Microsoft's 'Office' suite of applications)
While there are many benefits to working with GAFE, the key benefit is that everyone in the Lewisham community will have access to all their files anywhere, any time and on any device. Students are encouraged to migrate or 'transfer' their data from the school servers for this very reason. Another advantage of using GAFE is that all your data is instantly 'sharable'. Students can collaborate on work at any given time and teachers can provide instant feedback on formative assessment. Teaching and learning resources can be shared without the need for printing, (drastically reducing our carbon footprint), and assignments can be submitted electronically. Students may access their Google accounts using their school email as a log in, (i.e. [email protected]). Students passwords will be distributed to them at school and they will be required to change it at their first login. Instructions for accessing school based Google Accounts are provided below. The I.T Department along with Mr Papa (AP-Learning Innovation) are the school's authorised GAFE administrators and will assist students who may have any difficulties accessing their accounts.
